Dental abrasion, result Brushing Too Hard

Description
Tooth abrasion is the loss of tooth structure resulting from abnormal mechanical wear. Tooth abrasion caused by friction against the teeth that are too strong and continuous. Many things can cause tooth abrasion, the most common cause of tooth brushing too hard.

Characteristic of tooth abrasion caused by brushing too hard which is the formation of curves 'V' on the neck of the teeth (the area near the gums). Abrasion can dental enamel surface of the (outer surface) and even reach the surface the deeper the dentin. If the tooth has abrasion on the tooth surface and deeper (tooth dentin open), then it will lead to sensitive teeth.

Cause
Many mechanical factors which may cause loss of tooth structure is abnormal, among others:

1. Brushing your teeth too hard and the wrong way

Brushing your teeth too hard with the horizontal direction (forward and backward) is continuously can cause tooth abrasion. Brushing your teeth is best in the vertical direction (up and down).

2. Grip (wire) on the denture teeth that are too pressing

Grip (wire) on the denture that is too pressing teeth would cause friction continuously during chewing of food, so that it can cause tooth abrasion.

3. Bruxism (teeth grinding)

Bruxism (teeth grinding) is a habit of sharpening the teeth of the lower teeth, commonly called 'kerot'. Bruxism is usually done unconsciously during sleep. The cause of bruxism is not known with certainty, but several studies have shown that stress is one cause. Bruxism is a habit, so it can also cause tooth abrasion.

4. Biting habit of smoking pipe between the upper and lower front teeth

5. Jacket crown porcelain teeth with materials that are too high can cause the teeth to his opponent terabrasi on incisal or occlusal surface (chewing surface)

Symptom

1. Tooth ache and more sensitive

2. Shape of the teeth appear eroded
 Treatment

Treatment for tooth abrasion depending on the severity of tooth decay.

1. Tooth decay is involved in more surface (the teeth have lost all emails with open dentine)

The first thing to do is eliminate the factors that cause tooth abrasion and dental fillings should be done so as not to ache.

2. Tooth decay is still mild

Simply by eliminating factors or change the habits that cause tooth abrasion.
