Description:
Eptifibatide is a drug that keeps blood platelets from clotting (clotting) to prevent unwanted blood clotting, which can occur with heart conditions and certain blood vessels.
Indications:
Used to prevent blood clots or heart attacks in people with certain angina or other conditions who undergo a procedure called angioplasty (to open a closed artery).
Dose:
UA / NSTEMI (Unstable Angina / Non ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction):
1. 180 mcg / kg by IV bolus over 1-2 minutes.
2. Continuation of IV bolus followed by 2 mcg / kg / minute, multiplied by 72 hours or until it stops.
If PCI (Percutaneous Intervention Coronory) emerged during therapy:
1. Continue for 18-24 hours after PCI
If the CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting) is done:
1. Stop use before surgery.
2. Maximum duration: 96 days
PCI without treatment for UA / NSTEMI:
180 mcg / kg bolus IV, multiplied by 2 doses 10 minutes apart.
Starting continue IV infusion after the first bolus: 2 mcg / kg / min IV, multiplied by 18-24 hours
Side Effects:
Hematologic effects (bleeding, thrombocytopenia); CV effects (hypotension), hypersensitivity reactions (anaphilaxys, rash, urticaria)
Special Instructions:
contra indications in patients with active bleeding (except menstrual bleeding), bleeding disorders or active in the last 30 days, history of stroke within the last 30 days, history of bleeding stroke, major surgery within the last 6 weeks, history of bleeding diathesis, thrombocytopenia, PT over 1.2 or INR (Internal Normalized Ratio) is greater equal to 2, acute hypertension, trauma, acute kidney damage.
Use caution in patients with moderate kidney damage, liver dysfunction.
