Bivalirudin

Description:
Bivalirudin is a drug that keeps blood platelets from clotting (clotting) to prevent unwanted blood clotting, which can occur with heart conditions and certain blood vessels.

Indications:
Used to prevent blood clotting in people with angina or other conditions who undergo a procedure called angioplasty (to open a closed artery).

Dosage:

1. 750 NCG / kg IV followed by infusion of 1.75 mg / kg / hour during the procedure, up to 4 hours after the procedure.
2. If needed, may continue infusion at doses of 0.2 mg / kg / hour, up to 20 hours.
 

Side Effects:
Haematological effects (bleeding); Effect Dermatology (hypersensitivity reaction, pain at the injection site, severe anaphylaxis); CV effects (hypertension, hypotension, bradycardia); Securities GI (N / V, dyspepsia); effects on the kidneys (urine storage); Muskoskeletal effects (back pain); CNS effects (headache, anxiety).
